Story
I am again aiming to raise money for the Amy Gillett Foundation by participating in the annual Amy's Ride SA and I would welcome any contribution, great or small!
I will be riding the 70km section but if the legs are up to it I will go up Willunga Hill this time to make the 100km ride.. Will be riding with son Christopher this year hence the Team Title. For info will be representing the RNRMCA as a financial Member and sporting the jersey they have given me as their oldest Anglo Australian Rider. :-) Hoping for a cool day. For info, the RNRM Cycling Association Bib Shorts carry the slogan - Hearts of Oak and Legs of Steel - hoping it works out that way on the day. Many of my rides are posted on the Strava App Website under the "blartinoz" nickname, a title bestowed on me by my first frontline Vixen CO, Dereck Monsell.
Activity
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
